Of course, then, I always hated the New Jersey winters of my childhood where all I could do was think.
When I lived in New Jersey, our backyard contained two lilac bushes, one white, one light purple. or lilac. Once each spring when the lilacs were in bloom we would cut stems, wrap them in wet paper towels, and I would bring them into my teacher’s classroom.
Lately things seem more fortune than fate.
